Mental health - Anxiety Remedies

Mental health is something I am SO passionate about. I want to use my platform to help as many people as I can. For me, anxiety pops up whenever I am restlessly thinking about the future. I start analyzing everything in my life which leads to a seemingly inescapable spiral. I think it’s most important to never feel ashamed for dealing with anxiety because it is something that many people experience. It has no control over you. I want you to believe that you CAN get your power back. Let your anxious thoughts take the back seat and your higher self (most fabulous version of you) take the driver’s seat.

You are not your thoughts

Meditation.

Implementing a mediation routine has helped me take my power back. It teaches me how to observe my thoughts instead of becoming attached to them. You have thoughts but they are not who you are. Think about it… if you can listen to your thoughts then you must not be them right? Try meditating 15 minutes morning and night. As you get better, add more time. Youtube has amazing free mediations. Here’s a good Law of Attraction meditation.

Where does your anxiety come from?

Once you start meditating, you will have more awareness to recognize when the anxiety starts. Does it start when thoughts come up about a certain subject? Or, after you have been on social media for a long time? When you pay attention to what triggers it, you can get to the root cause. Remember, it is okay to feel emotions. Don’t avoid problems or tough emotions because you’ll just end up causing more stress in the future.

Get moving!

Equal breathing

Shut your eyes, pay attention to the way you feel and where you feel stress in your body.

  1. Then, slowly count 1-2-3-4 as you inhale through your nose.

  2. Hold your breath for 4 seconds at the top

  3. Exhale for the same four-second count.

Cry!

Crying releases oxytocin and endorphins. These feel-good chemicals can help ease both physical and emotional pain. Once the endorphins are released, your body may go into somewhat of a numb stage. Oxytocin can give you a sense of calm or well-being.” Read more here. Crying doesn’t need to have a negative connotation. It is quite necessary to release emotions and let them go.
